Thanks to the WordPress CMS (content management system), it’s incredibly easy to create your own website for yourself or a business in a very short time. This tutorial will use DreamHost as an example of how to setup and create your own website and use WordPress as your publishing platform.
Step 1: Choose a hosting service and register a domain name.
Go to dreamhost.com and create an account. Thankfully, DreamHost offers their own wiki for setting up an account and getting you started, which you can read here. After you register a domain and select which hosting plan you want, you can move on to installing WordPress.
Step 2: Click on Goodies in your left-hand sidebar. Click on the menu and then click on the link called “One click installs.”
Step 3: Select the WordPress install. A pop-up will appear. Click the “custom installation” button.
Step 4: Select the domain from the drop-down menu, and click the install button!
That’s it! DreamHost will then install the WordPress CRM database to your domain and provide you with a step-by-step process to login and access your website.
If you decide on another hosting service, WordPress offers a short info page about others you can consider that operate well with the WordPress platform. You can read about them here.
