The follow-up to Kenneth Branagh’s take on Thor will be helmed by the veteran TV director Alan Taylor. Deadline.com reports that Taylor will be taking the reigns from director Patty Jenkins, of Monster fame, who reportedly clashed with Marvel over creative differences. Although Taylor has not directed a feature film since 2003’s Kill the Poor, his TV credits include shows that display both action and drama, including Deadwood, Lost, Rome, The Sopranos, Law & Order, Boardwalk Empire, and most recently Game of Thrones, to name just a few.
Thor 2 is scheduled to release on November 15, 2013, with Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman returning to their respective roles. Screenwriter Don Payne is again attached to write the feature. In the meantime, fans can still eagerly anticipate Thor’s appearance in next summer’s Avengers movie.
