‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Casting Update

As pre-production ramps up for the sequel to this year’s The Hunger Games, the news keeps flying in on cast updates for Catching Fire. Suzanne Collin’s trilogy has been a huge bestseller and The Hunger Games starring Jennifer Lawrence as lead Katniss Everdeen was a box office success and received positive reviews.

The excitement for the sequel is high and with a release date on November 22, 2013, there’s just over a year to shoot, edit and for post-production. With that note, here is the latest (and full list of casting announcements from the last two months).

Actor/ Actress (Claim to fame) – Character

Alan Ritchson (Aquaman on Smallville, Blue Mountain State) – Gloss

Bruno Gunn (bit parts in Bad Teacher, Sons of Anarchy) – Brutus

Meta Golding (Criminal Minds, Dark Blue) – Enobaria

Patrick St. Esprit (Super 8, Sons of Anarchy, Green Zone) – Romulus Thread

Lynn Cohen (Sex and the City, Eagle Eye) – Mags

Jena Malone (young Elli in Contact, Sucker Punch) – Johanna Mason

Amanda Plummer (Honey Bunny in Pulp Fiction) – Wiress

and as most know, the most exciting addition…

Philip Seymour Hoffman (Moneyball, The Big Lebowski, Capote) – Plutarch Heavensbee

Its shaping up to be a fantastic cast. Directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine, Water For Elephants), the film has a lot of high expectations but with this talented case (including the returning cast from the first film), it has a great chance to be an exciting 2013 Thanksgiving film.
