In the books, Odair is described as an astonishingly handsome man and a winner of the Hunger Games at the age of fourteen. In his retirement, Odair spends time romancing powerful citizens of the Capitol. He’s charismatic and extremely narcissistic, though as the books progress, he develops as a character. He has an integral role in the second and third books, and so Pattinson would be signing on to play in two, maybe three films.
The Hunger Games film adaptations are produced by Lionsgate, which is the same production studio responsible for The Twilight Saga, in which Pattinson stars as Edward Cullen. The director for Water for Elephants (2011), Francis Lawrence, has signed on to direct Catching Fire. Pattinson had the starring role opposite of Reese Witherspoon in the 2011 depression-era circus drama.
In the meantime, fans can see Pattinson as he takes the lead role in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, based on the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo.
