News Round-Up (Marvel Edition): ‘Ant-Man,’ ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ ‘Thor 2,’ ‘Captain America 2’

It was a big weekend for Marvel related news. Let’s get right into it.

Disney announced this morning that it has indeed officially greenlit Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man and it is scheduled for a Novermber 6, 2015 release. That puts it after The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015), so it’s possible that it will be part of Phase 3 of Marvel’s master plan for their films. For Edgar Wright fans, this is great news, but for fans of The Avengers, it may be sad as Ant-Man will not likely make a debut in the film. Disney also announced that Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013) and Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013) will both receive the 3D treatment.

Captain America 2:

Our friends at Screenrant, recently posted about the rumors (or hopes) that Quasar would make his debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014). No specific details to support the rumor or speculations, but they’ve provided their own reasoning behind the idea and it’s worth a read.

This past weekend was New York Comic Con and there were some major news bits dropped at Marvel’s event. The biggest of which was confirming the rumors and speculations that Agent Phil Coulson would live on in Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. Actor Clark Gregg was on hand with video support from Joss Whedon himself to announce it.

While it isn’t clear if Coulson will receive the “Vision” treatment, or the story of the show will precede the events of The Avengers, it will be great to see everyone’s favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agent back on a screen, big or small.
