According to the folks at Latino Review, who have a well proven track record of calling comic book movie announcements ahead of time, Guardians of the Galaxy will be the newest non-sequel addition to the Marvel films catalog. With both Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 slated for next year, Marvel’s line-up of movies leading into the inevitable Avengers 2 was bound to have some new heroes. A natural fit for the intergalactic nemesis that was introduced at the end of The Avengers, the original comic version of Guardians of the Galaxy followed a team of heroes from an alternate, future version of Earth. A reboot of the series in 2008 featured different characters, most of whom were relatively lesser characters in the Marvel pantheon.
Marvel is expected to officially announce this news at this year’s Comic Con. Thanos will feature in it and it will lead directly into the next Avengers film. Captain America 2 will also be coming out in the same year, with rumors also revolving around film versions of Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Black Panther.
