A sad day for the LA Angels and baseball

A few days ago I commented on the Brewers-Cubs rivalry and how much I love baseball. But today is a stark reminder that while fans of the game may bicker and call out their “hatred” for other teams, it is just a game and its played by fellow humans.

Early this morning LA Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car crash – with early reports stating the driver that struck the car Adenhart was in was driving under the influence. Adenhart was 22-years-old.

A day after Adenhart pitched arguably his best game in his few major league starts, a minivan struck the car Adenhart was riding in, striking them against a lightpost. Adenhart died at the hospital.

It’s incredibly sad and my thoughts go out to Adenhart’s family, friends and team.
